US Airways charging for all drinks and snacks

You'd think that you've heard it all when airlines started charging $50 for checking in a second bag. But how does paying for water sound? Some of us might remember times when even headphones for in-flight entertainment were complimentary - along with other memorabilia and gifts. Those times have obviously changed. However, I think that being charged for snacks and drinks is on another level of ridiculous changes. I'd prefer paying $10 more for my ticket and blame it on rising oil prices. Ultimately, yes, it's all connected to oil prices. But charging Economy for what used-to-be complementary refreshments while decorating the pull-out tables with Ads does send another message from US Airways, especially on a 5-hour-flight departing from their main hub(PHX)! Hopefully this isn't another trend that other airlines collectively catch on to. It's also a bother to the flight attendants who have to fetch change for cash transactions. In our case, it was as bad as the pilot having to awkwardly ask passengers for change over the intercom.
