Air France's A380 Big NY Debut
Source: LA Times
Air France A380On November 20, 2009, Air France's first of 12 Airbus A380s made its inaugural flight from Paris to New York. When daily transatlantic flights begin Monday, Air France will be the first European carrier to offer commercial flights aboard the superjumbo jet.
The carrier has big shoes to fill. When Singapore Airlines debuted its A380 in 2007, it was the first carrier to offer fully enclosed suites. Emirates featured shower spas. Here's a look at what to expect from Air France."

Over the weekend Air France switched out its Boeing 777-300ER on its Paris to New York JFK service and placed its brand new A380 aircraft, and soon Johannesburg and Dubai will also see the French carrier's superjumbos.
After the completion of the Friday charity service of the Air France transatlantic service, Air France operated AF6 on the 23rd as its first commercial service with the Airbus A380.
Now that New York has been officially launched, the French carrier is now getting ready to implement the A380 on its Johannesburg and Dubai operations.
Taking place in two stages, Dubai will move from twice daily to a daily A380 service on the 18th of January. Whilst frequencies will drop, capacity will remain the same due to the larger aircraft.
Johannesburg will also move from double-dailies to a daily A380 service, and will begin with the arrival of the third A380, which is believed to take place in March, 2010.
e-Travel Blackboard understands that a rumour that Air France will place the Airbus A380 on the Paris Charles de Gaulle to London Heathrow cannot as of yet be confirmed.

expect delays
The amenities provided were good. I have always been happy with the screen they provide on the back of every seat, on which you can watch the latest movies or play (boring) games. The service provided by the flight attendants was OK for the most part.
However, although the good points above might be exciting to get for their low priced tickets, they are ALWAYS late. Take off or landing - they WILL BE LATE. There's always some logistical issue that delays either boarding on the plane or take off, which may lead you to miss that million dollar business meeting.
